New Child Passenger Safety Fitting Station
The Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau has teamed up with the Crawfordsville Fire
Department to establish our county’s first certified Child Passenger Safety Permanent
Fitting Station.
We are open and ready to make appointments!
The fitting station is located at the Fire Department’s main office at 100 S. Water Street in
Crawfordsville. The station is staffed by three fire fighters and nine youth service bureau
case managers who have each been trained and certified as child passenger safety
technicians. When a parent arrives with the child(ren), these technicians will evaluate the
existing way that the child is traveling and make any required
corrections. This includes inspecting existing seats and ins-
tructing families on how to properly secure them in vehicles.
If a seat is faulty, expired, or missing, we do have a limited
number of seats available on a sliding income scale.
Interested parents or care-givers should contact the fire
department at 362-1277 to schedule their appointment
with a technician. You must bring your child and vehicle with
you to the appointment and, depending on the circumstances
found by the technician, appointments may take as long as 1
hour.
