What
The Healthy Families program is a nationwide program that belie-
ves all families have strengths. Building upon these strengths
allows families to make positive changes in their lives.
How
If a new parent agrees to participate in the Healthy Families program, a Family Support
Specialist will meet with them in their home to assist them in caring for their new baby. A
Family Support Specialist may work with this family starting at the birth of their child and
continue until the child enters preschool or kindergarten.
We Help
The Healthy Families Support Specialist will assist each family in any way we can. We
provide information on child development, parent/child interaction and effective discipline
techniques. We can also assist with budgeting and finance, continuing your education,
employment and community referrals. Most importantly, we offer support and
encouragement which every new parent needs.
Why
We believe parenting is the toughest, yet most important job anyone will ever have. Our
goal is to assess families’ strengths and needs, teach problem
solving skills, improve the families support network and to
promote positive parent/child interaction in order to
promote healthy childhood growth and development.
The Healthy Families program is offered to all new parents
residing in Montgomery County at no cost to the family. If you are
