Bringing the community together, on piece at a time.
Youth as resources (YAR) is a service program focused on youth and adults to unite in an environment of mutual trust and respect, to identify and satisfy needs within their community. Simply put: YAR is a philanthropic, youth-led program that does various service projects and fundraisers. All of the money raised is put in a grant pool and is given to other youth-led organizations who have projects that are in need of funding.
Youth as Resources is composed of a youth-led Governing Board with adults serving as advisors and facilitators. The YAR Board meets regularly to screen various service projects within the community. Pending approval by the Board, grants are awarded to partially fund these projects. The YAR Board also helps plan, implement, and celebrate the successful completion of their own service projects, as well as fundraisers.
Grant recipients can include youth organizations, schools, religious organizations, community/neighborhood centers, correctional facilities, crisis centers, scout groups, and more. Many different kinds of projects are eligible for YAR funds and support.
